Entry #12
8 July 2025
Location: Picking up towels from the floor because my preteens can’t seem to understand English and think the towels will walk to the rack on their own.
Daniel turns 12 today.
I had to look at that sentence a few times.
And shake my head.
I think those who have followed me since his birth can also proceed to shake your heads, please. We’ve turned 12, guys. *cries a river*
One more year till he becomes a teenager.
To be honest, Daniel is the easiest child out of the four. No drama, no problems, obedient, loving, easy to wake up in the morning, easy to ask to pray, everything easy. And Alhamdulillah of course, but sometimes I get worried thinking “is this too good to be true?”. Is he going to act up as a teenager because he’s just so easy as a child?
I shoot him a look as we were on the couch together.
He stops his video game and catches my eye contact.
“What?” he asks, confused.
I want to ask a million questions. Are you keeping secrets from me? Did you really pray Asar just now or did you just wet your hair? Do you secretly like girls in school, other than the ones I read in your whatsapp messages when you were sleeping? Have you encountered cigarettes and was tempted to smoke? Will you one day? Are you really ok with being one of the smallest boys in class? On your next school trip, are you going to sneak out with your friends at night and do crazy things? Were you the one who ate the last cookie and denied it?
