Free Fridays: Hobonichi.
2 January 2026
Whoa I almost wrote 2025. Habit.
So I was with my sisters in law the other night and they were showing me their planners from this brand called Hobonichi. People still write in physical planners?, I thought to myself. But you have the Calendar and Notes app on the phone - why on earth would you still write in a notebook?
“It’s fun!” Pearl said. “I put quotes and lessons that I want to remember.”
Yasmin didn’t have to say anything. She just took out another 2026 planner to confirm she’s an alien - the woman has two 2026 planners.
“So you guys write in here, and also on your phone? Isn’t that double job?”
I went home that night, sure that my sisters in law have issues.
The next day, I went to my fav store Kinokuniya. Mariam showed me the Hobonichi section and I was like Nahhhhh I’m not getting sucked into this.
10 minutes later…..
I have joined their crazy club.
I didn’t just buy the planner - I bought stickers, pens, highlighters I know I won’t use…
Mariam got one too and the both of us spent new year’s day with our Hobonichis.
It was so therapeutic and I immediately awoken the scrapbook-girl in me. That girl was like WHEEEE HELLO WORLD SO FUN. Stickers, different-coloured pens, I’m doomed… I even put the notebook in a dUCk dustbag because I don’t want it to stain. Haha. Punya lah sayang.
Anyway, got my 2026 resolutions in!
Hope you’ve done yours too, because it’s important to start the year with intention. Whether on your phone app like a normal person, or with a bag of stickers and highlighters in hand - I won’t judge.
Happy new year, everyone!
Before you really go…
Let me know you’ve read this. Comment “my 2026 resolution is…” on my latest post at @sincerelyvivy.
See you there! :)
